About the Role:
- Perform lifeguarding functions as needed, according to Provincial and Town policies and guidelines.
- Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency. Implement proper rescue and emergency procedures for those in difficulty, danger or injured.
- Supervise patrons to always ensure their safety. Monitor patron headcount and ensure correct patron-to-lifeguard ratio.
- Ensure all programs, staff and pool operation meet minimum standards of Provincial Health Regulations and Town policies and procedures.
- Guide and mentor Lifeguards/Instructors
- Ensure quality, safety, and swimmer engagement throughout events and activities.
- Build strong relationships with participants and parents and foster healthy child development.
- Promote aquatic and facility safety and educate/inform all individuals/groups concerning pool and equipment rules and regulations to maintain a safe enjoyable pool.
- Respond to inquiries and concerns from the public, participants and/or parents, while providing excellent customer service.
- Assist Aquatics Supervisor with scheduling staff for special events and rentals.
- Ensure that staff qualifications are up to date.
- Assist the Aquatics Supervisor in developing new programs and content.
- Monitor and ensure pool deck is set up and prepared for lessons and/or events.
- Ensure Instructors follow lesson plans and are fully prepared for their lessons.
- In the absence of the Aquatics Supervisor, assume lead role in the event of an emergency as per established procedures.
- Perform general maintenance and cleaning of the Pool including pool tests and inspections and oversee the aquatics instructors to ensure staff are completing required cleaning and inspections on an ongoing basis.
- Open and close facility in accordance with facility procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of facility (e.g., change rooms, guard office, pool deck, etc.)

- A minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in an Aquatics environment.
- Requires good knowledge of applicable legislation, standard practices, and guidelines, including the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, S.O. 2005.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- The ability to perform tasks and duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ability to liaise with the public and give directions when required.
- Customer service experience is an asset.
- Recent "vulnerable sector" police check
- Ability to work with children.
- Ability to work evenings & weekends.
