About the Role:
We are searching for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our Aquatics team. As the Aquatics Instructor/Lifeguard, reporting to the Aquatics Supervisor, you will ensure service excellence and the safe operation of all aquatic programs and facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Perform lifeguarding functions, according to Provincial and Town of Saugeen Shores’ guidelines.
- Follow assigned guard rotations and assist with supervision of participants.
- Provide first aid services as required and document accordingly.
- Work as a part of an effective lifeguard team to ensure proper positioning, rotations and communication including verbal, hand signals and whistles. Remain on duty until relieved by another qualified lifeguard/instructor.
- Implement lesson plans and set-up classes accordingly.
- Communicate with parents/guardian of students on a regular basis.
- Perform general maintenance and cleaning of the pool including pool tests and inspections.
- Inspect, clean and maintain cleanliness of facility (e.g., change rooms, guard office, pool deck, etc.) and equipment.
- Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (e.g., attendance, report cards, opening and closing procedures).
- Communicate with participants regarding lesson opportunities and accident prevention.
- Maintain an understanding of division programs and services.
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies and Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff.
- Educate/inform all individual/groups concerning pool and equipment rules and regulations, ensuring their observance to maintain a safe, enjoyable pool environment.
- Current awards as follows: Lifesaving Swim Instructors, National Lifeguard – pool, Standard First Aid
- Minimum 15 years of age
- Must be prepared to work flexible hours including evening and weekend shifts.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Aquatics volunterr experience
- Experience as a Lifeguard in Training (LIT)

Wage: $18.50 to $21.03 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
